iKON's New Company 143 Entertainment and its YG Connections
Who is behind this supposedly nugu company which Kep1er’s Yeseo and Mashiro and Boys’ Planet Lee Da Eul and Lim Jun Seo belong to.
143 Entertainment was set up on 9th June 2020. The founder is Digital Masta , a veteran rapper and producer and was in YG hiphop duo YMGA with Masta Wu.
Digital Masta migrated to US at about 12 and got into hiphop because of Naughty by Nature. He has known future label mates Teddy and Masta Wu since high school. They formed SDT(South Dream Team). SDT performed as a crew before ChoPD discovered Digital Masta and released an album in 2000 under ChoPD’s Stardom crew, while Teddy and Masta Wu joined YG Entertainment.
Digital Masta left Cho PD’s label after a few albums and formed YMGA with Masta Wu and the group released an album under YG in October 2008. The song “What” featured YG acts like Perry, Kush, Teddy, GD and CL. YMGA is short for Young Men Gangsta's Association.
He later produced the idol group D-Unit under the company D-Business Entertainment. The group was active in 2012 and 2013. The company was also managing 1Punch with Brave Entertainment before One joined YG Entertainment.
Digital Masta is also an active producer for over 20 years with writing credits for MBLAQ, Super Junior, Heize, Beenzino, Verbal Jint and many others.
