Producer Dee.P's motivation for joining YG: "my father had cancer and I wanted to bring him good news."

In a video uploaded in May 12, 2014, then-maknae producer Dee.P (박한범) revealed that he came back to Korea when his father had cancer and wanted to bring good news to his parents and joined YG after contacting and sending all the songs he wrote for 2 years to Jinu from Jinusean. (Jinu was also the one who discovered Bobby.)

For 2NE1’s song, ‘If I were you’, I listened to the live video more than the original track that I made. CL told me she liked it too. I got goosebumps when I watched and listen to 2NE1 singing it live.

I think it turned out much better than I had expected.

When I come to the studio, I always take these many drinks.

About 2 years after I moved back to Korea, I had a phone call from my mom. She told me my dad had been diagnosed with cancer. I wanted to give him good news, but couldn’t do anything. When I was wondering what I could do, Jinu of Jinusean came into mind. So I sent him the songs I had made in the 2 years I spent in Korea. I met president Yang through Jinu. I felt like a dream when he told me he wanted to take me in and lead me. The composers I personally consider the best are all in YG. I am blessed because I can do music with them.
